Juanita Hepi

A multidisciplinary storyteller, producer, director, researcher and writer, Juanita has performed on a multitude of NZ stages and even Shakespeare’s Globe in London. Juanita’s passion for indigenous storytelling has led her to communities across Canada, America, and Hawaii where movement and sound are embedded within knowledge and culture.

Juanita holds a Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership with distinction, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning and a Bachelor of Arts from Toi Whakaari, NZ Drama School. She is also a staunch advocate and enabler of arts and artists in Ōtautahi, Christchurch.

Tūmahana – March 27

Tūmahana is a creative partnership between Juanita Hepi, Danny Syme, Māhina-Ina Kingi-Kaua, Hamish Oliver, the CSO and Ngāi Tahu, weaving together elements of dance, aerial and visual arts, Toi Māori, Taonga Pūoro, and orchestral music.
